An exciting mix of culture and heritage, activity and indulgence
Lincoln's most famous landmark is, of course, Lincoln Cathedral. Perched on the limestone Lincoln ridge, you can see it from miles around. It must have been an astounding site to pilgrims when it was first built, around 1,000 years ago, and it is just as impressive today.
The cathedral is just one of many architectural and historical gems in Greater Lincoln and on the region's doorstep, including castles, churches, stately homes, medieval manor houses and working windmills. Such a rich heritage is also celebrated in our museums, visitor centres and art galleries, including those devoted to the county's aviation history, the Second World War in particular.
For more active pursuits, the region's countryside is perfect for walking, cycling and riding, while sports fanatics can indulge in everything from golf, canoeing, boating and water skiing, to kite surfing, paint balling, climbing, sky diving, gliding and more.
After all that, you may wish to unwind and treat yourself to a trip round our independent specialist shops and big retail names, or a bite to eat in a gastropub, fine dining restaurant or café. Or maybe you'd like to explore some of the finest local produce at numerous village farm shops and farmers' markets. And then on to take in a show, a concert or a play at one of Greater Lincoln's many cultural venues. There really is something for everyone.
