rail
Well connected with London, Europe and the rest of the UKThe East Coast Mainline from London to Newcastle and beyond to Edinburgh gives Greater Lincoln superb rail access from nearby stations at Newark, Retford and Grantham. Indeed, the quality and frequency of the service to the capital (around an hour by train) have led to an increased number of Greater Lincoln residents commuting daily to London, and companies locating here are able to expand the radius of their business reach thanks to such superb connectivity. In addition, in 2008 a new direct service between Lincoln and London was introduced, along with faster journey times to Nottingham and Leicester.
The new Eurostar service from St Pancras, London also makes Europe easily accessible, meaning that train journeys from the region to Paris and Brussels now take less than five hours. Meanwhile, cross-country services connect rail links across Greater Lincoln and the broader county to lines serving Yorkshire, the Midlands and, via St Pancras, the South East.
